Upcoming Cozy Games 2026: Wishlist These

Steam’s own Cozy tag listed 1,087 unreleased games on 4 September 2026, and almost none of them carry a date. That is the real problem with building a cozy wishlist right now: the genre is enormous, the store is full of “Coming soon”, and most 2026 roundups were written in January and never touched again.

Four months of the year are left. The Alchemess team went through the cozy games people are still talking about, opened every store page on 4 September 2026, and kept only the ones with a real date — a day, or a window the developer has committed to. Twelve made it. Three that sat on everybody’s 2026 list have quietly moved to 2027, and those are listed separately rather than glossed over.

How did we choose the best cozy games 2026?

There is no single best cozy game: the word covers a farm sim you will play for 200 hours and a sorting game you will finish in six. What a wishlist needs is certainty about when. Every figure below was read off the game’s own Steam page on 4 September 2026, in US dollars, none of it from memory.

• A date that exists. A day, or a window the store itself displays. If the page says “To be announced”, it is not an entry here, however good it looks.
• Still actionable. Either it has not shipped, or it shipped within the last five weeks. Cozy classics are a different article.
• Price where announced. Pre-release pages often show no price, and we say so rather than guess. Where a game is discounted today, both numbers are given.
• Reviews only where they exist. Unreleased games have no score, and we invent one neither for them nor for ourselves.
• What the modes really are. Single-player, co-op, versus. The field most roundups skip and the one readers ask about most.
• Range across the genre. Farming, life sim, shop management, slice-of-life and sorting. Twelve versions of one game is a shelf, not a list.

Entries run in release-date order, oldest first. Ranking games that nobody has played yet would be a ranking of trailers.

New cozy games 2026, in date order

Fields of Mistria

The biggest cozy release of the year: NPC Studio’s pixel farm life sim left Early Access on 5 August 2026, exactly two years after it entered. Farming, mining, romance, and a town that writes better dialogue than it needs to.

On 4 September 2026 its Steam page listed US$13.99 with 34,098 reviews across all languages at Overwhelmingly Positive — by a wide margin the most-reviewed 2026 cozy release we checked. Recent reviews ran a little cooler than the lifetime score, which is ordinary for a 1.0 arriving after two years of expectations.

Buy this one first if you want the hundred-hour cozy game rather than an evening of one.

Sort Them Ducks

Mr.Duck’s sorting game arrived on 13 August 2026 and is the clearest evidence this micro-genre is not a fluke. You shelve over 4,000 unique rubber ducks, earn money per correct duck, and spend it on upgrades that let you carry more, move faster and highlight matches.

Its store page listed US$5.99 on 4 September 2026, with 1,370 reviews at Very Positive. It is single-player, and the money loop is the point: this is a game about becoming efficient at sorting. The same developer has Sort The Capybaras dated 8 October 2026, if 4,000 ducks prove insufficient.

Buy it for the optimisation version of tidying, with numbers going up.

Starsand Island

Seed Sparkle Lab’s island life sim landed on 18 August 2026 and is the most ambitious game here: a full 3D countryside with capybaras, fishing, cooking and a Moonlit Forest, listed at US$39.99 on 4 September 2026.

It is also the one to go into with open eyes. Its Steam page carried 7,055 reviews across all languages at Mostly Positive that day, with the recent-reviews window running distinctly cooler than the lifetime figure — a launch being patched in public. The page lists single-player and multiplayer.

Wishlist rather than buy blind, and read the recent reviews on the day you decide — the game underneath the launch is lovely.

Shelve the Potions!

Knight Owl Games shipped this on 24 August 2026, and it is plainly the nearest neighbour Alchemess has. You organise 2,000-plus potions knocked down by a witch’s cats, and the shelf order is not handed to you: you read clues around an enchanted cellar, learn a set of strange symbols, and work it out.

On 4 September 2026 it was listed at US$5.39, discounted 10% from US$5.99, with 317 reviews at Very Positive. Single-player, with play-at-your-own-pace and no-timed-input flags on the page. It is a puzzle game wearing a tidying game’s clothes.

If deciphering the system appeals more than the sorting itself, this is the better game, and it is out now.

Tidy or Treat

Three days out at the time of writing. Luriel’s Tidy or Treat is dated 7 September 2026: a restless spirit has emptied every shelf in a Halloween shop onto the floor, so you sort the pumpkin toys, learn tricks to work faster, and bring friends in to help.

Its page listed no price on 4 September 2026 — normal this close to launch — and no reviews, because it has not shipped. What it does list, unusually here, is co-op alongside single-player.

Wishlist it now if you want the seasonal one: a Halloween game bought in November is a different evening.

Aniimo

Pawprint Studio’s creature-catching open-world RPG is dated 15 September 2026 and is free to play, with in-app purchases listed on the page. You explore the continent of Idyll, bond with Aniimo, and travel to a sky-floating metropolis.

It is the outlier here, included deliberately: its store page lists online co-op and online PvP plus cross-platform multiplayer, so it is cozy in art direction rather than in pace. On 4 September 2026 it had no reviews.

Add it on the grounds that free costs nothing to try, but do not expect the quiet the other eleven entries are built around.

Alchemess: Tidy Up Your Potion Shop!

Ours, and it sits here because that is where the date order puts it. Something went wrong overnight and all 2,080 potions in your stock are on the floor in one heap that runs on real physics. You put them back: 26 shelves from Alpha to Omega, a gold Sun shelf, a silver Moon shelf, 260 hand-written names across eight bottle shapes, every label typeset by hand, no AI art anywhere.

The date and the launch price are on the Alchemess Steam page: US$5.99 on Steam and the Epic Games Store from 17 September 2026, with a 10% launch discount, on Windows PC. There is no timer, no score and no fail state, and we wrote up why in Why there is no timer. It has no reviews and no score, because it has not shipped.

The one thing here nothing else in this micro-genre has: online co-op, couch co-op and a Sun-vs-Moon versus mode. Online co-op is a six-digit room code read out loud, couch co-op is one button press and a split screen, and versus splits the shop into 13 shelves and 1,040 slots per side.

The Witch’s Bakery

Sunny Lab’s 2D adventure RPG, published by Silver Lining Interactive, is dated 14 October 2026. You live a magical life as a witch-baker in Paris: run the store, walk the streets, mend people’s moods with croissants. The most story-forward game on this list.

Its Steam page listed no price and no reviews on 4 September 2026, with single-player, Steam Achievements and full controller support.

Wishlist it if the town in a cozy game matters to you more than the farm.

Danchi Days

Dated 29 October 2026, from Analgesic Productions, with sandy powder, Melos Han-Tani, mogumu and gingham games credited on the store page. You play Hoshino, twelve years old, reviving a summer festival in a 2000s Japanese housing block.

The page calls it comedic yet bittersweet and says it deals with a grandmother living with dementia, so it is cozy in the sense of warmth rather than of nothing being at stake. On 4 September 2026 it listed no price and no reviews.

Wishlist it if the cozy games you remember are the ones that made you sit still afterwards.

Scrolls of Alexandria: Tidy up the Lost Library

Javideas has this dated 5 November 2026, the most structurally ambitious sorting game left in the year: 4,800 scattered scrolls across five floors, sorted by subject, alphabetical order and volume, restoring the knowledge of 21 cultures.

The interesting detail on its store page is a choice it hands you — whether the optional assisting abilities have any place in your run at all, which is the argument this whole micro-genre keeps having with itself. On 4 September 2026: no price, no reviews, single-player, with play-at-your-own-pace and no-timed-input flags.

For more library sorting, The Library Assistant is dated 28 October 2026 and Put Back Stuff is dated 13 September 2026.

Fantastic Haven

Piece of Cake Fabulous and Goblinz Publishing have this at Q4 2026 — a window rather than a day, and we write the window rather than invent a date. You restore the balance of magic by rescuing endangered fantasy creatures, building them a shelter, and returning them to the wild.

It is a builder rather than a life sim, and the page lists Steam Workshop support, rare in this category and a sign it will keep growing after release. On 4 September 2026 it listed no price and no reviews.

Wishlist it if creature-collecting appeals but combat does not.

Witchbrook

The most anticipated cozy game with no day on it. Chucklefish and Robotality’s witch life sim is set in the seaside town of Mossport, where you enrol at Witchbrook College, make friends and work towards graduation.

Its page still said simply 2026 on 4 September 2026 — no month, no quarter. It does list multiplayer and online co-op for up to four players, plus full controller support and Steam Cloud. No price, no reviews.

Set expectations to “whenever”: with under four months left and no month announced, this is the likeliest entry on the list to move.

Which 2026 cozy game dates have slipped?

This is the part a January roundup cannot do for you. Three games that appeared on cozy 2026 lists no longer carry a 2026 date on their own store page, as of 4 September 2026:

• Clawsome — Cometa Games and Whitethorn Games’ claw-machine diorama game now reads 2027.
• My Time at Evershine — Pathea Games’ settlement-building RPG now reads 2027.
• Wylde Society — Studio Drydock’s period-drama boarding-house sim now reads To be announced.

A second group still says 2026 but names no month, which in September amounts to much the same thing: Loftia, the multiplayer sustainability life sim; Spirit Crossing, Spry Fox’s sky-island MMO; Grave Seasons, a farming sim with a serial killer in town; and Book Nook, which builds miniature diorama scenes. Hela: of Mice & Magic, a split-screen co-op adventure, is Q4 2026, and Palworld: Palfarm reads To be announced.

Wishlist them anyway. Steam emails you on release day, which is what a wishlist is for and the reason a dateless game still belongs on one — including ours, which is dated.

Cozy games look interchangeable in a store grid and are not. Prices here run from free to US$39.99, and single-player versus co-op decides whether tonight is a solo evening or a shared one. Every figure was read off the game’s own Steam page on 4 September 2026.

Three things decide it, and none is a score. The date: a game with a day on it is a plan, a game with a year on it is a hope. The modes: four of the twelve above can be played with another person and eight cannot, the biggest split in the genre right now. And the price, which here runs from nothing to US$39.99 for broadly the same evening of calm.

If you want the big one, Fields of Mistria is out at US$13.99. If you want the quiet one, every sorting game on this page is under six dollars. What are the best cozy games coming out in 2026? Among those still to come with a date on 4 September 2026: Tidy or Treat on 7 September, Alchemess on 17 September, The Witch’s Bakery on 14 October, Danchi Days on 29 October and Scrolls of Alexandria on 5 November, plus Fantastic Haven in Q4 and Witchbrook somewhere in the rest of the year. How do I find new cozy games to play? Steam’s Cozy tag with the Coming Soon filter is the primary source, and it listed 1,087 unreleased games on 4 September 2026. Sort it by release date rather than relevance, and wishlist anything carrying a real day — a wishlist entry emails you on release day, which is more reliable than any list, this one included.

Which of these cozy games have co-op? Four of the twelve. Tidy or Treat lists co-op, Aniimo lists online co-op and online PvP, Witchbrook lists online co-op for up to four players, and Alchemess lists online co-op, couch co-op and a Sun-vs-Moon versus mode. The rest, including both of the other large sorting games, are single-player only.

What is the most relaxing game to play? The reliable signal is not art style, it is whether the game scores you. A lot of people find sorting things calming, and a sorting game with a timer is a different feeling entirely from one without. Two flags worth checking on any Steam page are “Playable without Timed Input” and play-at-your-own-pace.
